HSE Global Series Europe Congress

Advisory Council

Our esteemed global advisory council is proud to support HSE Global Series. The advisory board is formed by some of the most influential leaders in EHS, who help shape and create our speakers, themes, and topics for all our regional events.

Keynotes & Speakers

Every event will partner with a world-class speaker, unlocking exceptional insights and new perspectives for our entire delegation. Keynote partners confirmed for HSE UK North include...

Sam Conniff, Author & Co-Founder, Livity

As a British author, Sam released the acclaimed ‘Be More Pirate’ – a book based on the premise that rule-breakers, such as the pirates of the 1700s, often rewrite the rules that govern society. Aimed at millennials, the book has shaped discourse on traditional social rules. Sam is also the Founder of Livity, a multi-award winning youth marketing agency.

Jon Stanton, CEO, Weir Group

Focused on enabling the sustainable production of metals needed to attain net-zero, Jon and the Weir Group showcase the work they are doing to develop transformational technologies to help the mining sector become smarter, more efficient – and truly sustainable.

Lucy Easthope, Author & Co-Founder, After Disaster Network

The UK’s leading authority on recovering from disaster, Lucy is a Professor in practice, Co-Founder of the After Disaster Network, and author of ‘When The Dust Settles’. An advisor on nearly every major disaster over the past two decades, Lucy challenges others to think differently about what comes after tragic events, and how to plan for future ones.

Learning Partner & Facilitator

Anna Keen

Having spent the first 13 years of her recruiting Health and Safety professionals across the globe, it was whilst working in Exec Search in Australia, Anna became concerned around the lack of non-technical development in the Health and Safety profession.

After returning to the UK in 2015, Anna formed Acre Frameworks to create a development pathway for the profession that enabled individuals and teams to move from competent to highly effective. At the core of this offering was a Competency Framework developed with 100+ Health and Safety leaders which defined the competencies critical for success.

Since forming Frameworks, Anna has had the privilege of coaching and developing some of the world’s most progressive Health and Safety leaders and their teams including the likes of Netflix, Amazon and PepsiCo. It’s through this work she has developed a deep understanding of what it truly takes to drive purposeful change within an organisation and society at large.

Passionate about personal growth, supporting people to thrive and constantly curious, Anna has recently established her own consultancy, to continue to challenge and evolve the way professionals are developed.

Human-Centric Sessions

HSE 3.0 is designed to engage us as industry professionals and as people. We want you to experience the human; to explore new perspectives and bring new thinking back to your business. Here's how...

1-2-4-ALL SESSION

The Aim

To engage all participants to generate better ideas, faster – opening up conversations on a shared challenge.

How It Works:

A shared challenge will be posed as a question. Attendees have one minute of silent reflection, followed by two minutes in pairs to discuss. Ideas are then developed in teams of four, for four minutes. Finally, a spokesperson from each group will put forward one important idea to the entire group. Here, speed trumps deliberation.

TRIZ SESSION

The Aim

Spread ideas, make connections and learn how new ideas can be adapted into your day-to-day context.

How It Works:

1. Attendees are split into small groups, writing a list of everything they could do to ensure their top objective has the worst possible outcome, to share it with the group

2.The group review the list and highlight anything that’s currently being done that could even slightly resemble what’s on the list

3. With brutal honesty, a second list containing all counter-productive activities/procedures – and their associated impacts – is created and discussed

4. With all skeletons now out, each group explore which activities or behaviours need to be stopped, and how they’d go about doing so.

HEARD, SEEN & RESPECTED

The Aim

To practice deeper listening and empathy with peers, building trust and ‘cultural climate’ through listening and storytelling.

How It Works:

Grouping into pairs, attendees will each tell a story of when they were not heard, seen or respected. Each side is asked to listen without trying to fix anything or make judgement, practicing HSR. Pairs will then form smaller groups for reflection, looking at the ‘What’ (what happened), the ‘So What’ (the importance) and finally, the ‘Now What’ (actions moving forward).

OXFORD-STYLE DEBATING

Challenging the status-quo and generating effective critical thinking, a moderator and two debaters for common opposing viewpoints will navigate a pertinent industry topic, with full audience participation.

SHIFT & SHARE SESSION

The Aim

Spread ideas, make connections and learn how new ideas can be adapted into your day-to-day context.

How It Works:

will be split into smaller groups and experience 10 minute presentations – with Q&A and feedback – from each of our partner companies, on something new or innovative that may be of value to the group. But unlike most presentations, this isn’t about products. It’s about ideas; ideas that shift perceptions and share a vision.

INTERACTIVE SKILLS & TRAINING

The Aim

Learn about (and develop) skills outside of our industry-led sessions, to take back to the office and home. Including:

HEALTH & WELLBEING SESSIONS

Enhance mindfulness with group Hatha Yoga, Om chanting sessions and physical wellbeing bootcamps, all with on-site mindfulness and wellbeing coaches.
